The confirmation screen
Once you confirm, the screen says when you are expected, where and for how many, and shows your Booking reference. Quote it if you call the restaurant; it is not a password.
Its buttons add the booking to your calendar: see adding it to your calendar. On the restaurant’s booking page, the screen also gives its address, its phone number and Directions.
Changed your mind already? While the screen is still open, Cancel this booking sits just below, within the restaurant’s rules. Later, use the link in your email.
The confirmation email
It arrives at once, under the restaurant’s name and in the language you booked in. It repeats the day, the time, the party, your reference, the seating area and your requests, with the restaurant’s address and phone number.
Its Manage your booking button opens your booking’s own page, to confirm, change or cancel it within the restaurant’s rules: see change or cancel. The link is private to this booking, so don’t forward it.
It also has calendar buttons and a calendar file attached.
The reminder
A reminder arrives before your visit, by default the day before; each restaurant chooses how many hours ahead. A booking made less than a day ahead gets no reminder: it is confirmed straight away.
If the restaurant asks you to confirm, the reminder has a Confirm I'm coming button: press it to let the restaurant know you are still coming. It opens your booking, where one more tap confirms it, and the booking then shows Confirmed. The reminder also has Cancel my booking when the restaurant takes cancellations online.
To stop a restaurant’s reminders, press Unsubscribe with one click at the foot of one. Your confirmations, changes and cancellations still arrive.
When a restaurant asks you to confirm
A restaurant can ask you, in the reminder itself, whether you are still coming. If yours does, your booking’s page shows Please confirm from the time the reminder is due, and confirming takes one tap. If it does not, nothing asks you to confirm.
A restaurant can also release a table nobody has confirmed. If yours does, it first emails you a warning with the time by which to confirm. Without an answer by then, the table goes to another party, and an email tells you so.
Good to know
- No email after a few minutes? Check your spam folder, or call the restaurant with your reference: it can send you the link again.
- Marking a restaurant’s email as spam stops all of its mail to you, confirmations included.
