Where the buttons are

  • On the confirmation screen: Google and Outlook, and Apple on the restaurant’s booking page.
  • In the confirmation email, under Add to your calendar: Google, Outlook and Apple / other. A calendar file is attached as well.
  • On your booking’s own page, under Add to calendar: Google, Outlook and Apple.

What each button does

  • Google opens Google Calendar with the event filled in: save it there.
  • Outlook opens Outlook on the web with the event filled in: save it there.
  • Apple and Apple / other download a calendar file. Open it and your calendar app adds the event, on an iPhone, a Mac or any other device.

What the entry holds

Every entry has the restaurant’s name, the day and time of your sitting, the party and your booking reference, with the restaurant’s address and phone number when it has given them.

Your requests are never put in a calendar, and neither is your private link: the entry’s link to your booking asks for the link from your email.

When the booking changes

The calendar file is made afresh each time you open it, so it always shows the booking as it stands. The email after a change carries a file that replaces the old event, and the cancellation email one that removes it, if your calendar app accepts them.

An event added with Google or Outlook is a copy and does not change. After a change, delete it and add the booking again.

Good to know

  • Outlook opens Outlook on the web for personal accounts. For a work calendar, use the calendar file instead.
  • The calendar file’s link stops working a week after your visit, and as soon as you correct your email on your booking’s page.
