From the guestlist

  1. On the Guestlist tab, press Move beside the party’s table — or Give a table if they have none yet.
  2. A strip opens under the row with every table that can take them at their time. The one that fits them best is marked best fit.
  3. Tap a table to move them there, or Stop moving to leave them where they are.

The guestlist changes the table only: the time stays as it was.

On the floor map

Tap a name in the floor map’s list of guests, Guests: their table is ringed, the tables that can take them light up, and the others dim. Tap a lit table, or drag the name onto it, to move them there.

From a booking opened on the floor map, Choose a table on the floor does the same: tap a lit table next.

On the calendar

Drag a booking’s bar to another square — another table, another time, or both — and let go on a lit square. Anywhere else, the bar goes back where it was.

Or press Move on the bar, then tap a lit square. Cancel stops the move.

What is checked

A move is checked like a new booking. The table must seat the party, be free for their whole sitting — the time kept between two sittings included — and have what the booking needs, such as step-free access. Tables joined together are offered when they are free and seat the party.

Only a booking still to come can be moved. Once the party has arrived or sat down, their table stays theirs for the sitting: give them longer instead, or cancel and book again. A booking that started more than four hours ago keeps its table, though it can still be given a new time.

A booking whose Table assignment is Locked is moved by nobody until it is unlocked, in its popup. Where pacing is full at the new time (Pro and Enterprise), the first tap asks: tap the same table or square again to move them anyway — it is recorded as an override.

When a move is refused

The party keeps the table and time they had, and the screen says why. For a table somebody else has, it says: Someone else has that table at their time — pick another. When another tablet took it, it names that tablet too.

If the booking was changed on another tablet a moment before, the screen says so: tap again to move it as it is now.

Undo a move

A move on the floor map or the calendar is confirmed by a message at the bottom of the screen, with Undo: press it to put the party back where they were. A move from the guestlist or the popup has no undo: move them back the same way.

A table you choose by hand becomes theirs: their Table assignment turns to This table, and the house no longer moves them to another table on its own.

What the guest is told

A new time or a new number of guests is emailed to the guest, if they have an email and Booking changed is on in Settings › Messaging; their reminder moves with the booking. A new table alone sends nothing, since the guest’s emails never name a table.

Good to know

  • To change the time, use the calendar or Change time or party: the guestlist and the floor map keep the time and change the table.
  • When a party of six becomes two, they are not kept on tables joined for six: the move looks for the table that fits two best.
