The floor map editor

Draw the room on the floor map: place and turn the tables, add walls, doors and the bar, then publish. One device edits it at a time.

Lay out the room

  1. On a device in Office mode, open Settings › Floor and press Lay out the room — or Edit the floor map once tables are placed.
  2. Press Edit the floor map. Every table not yet on the map is given a free spot; drag each one to where it really stands.
  3. Click a table to select it. The panel beside the room sets its width and height, Rotation °, Shape and Stacking; shift-click to select several and line them up with Align.
  4. Add the room around the tables from Add to the room: Bar with seats, Wall, Door, Station, Plant, Text, Stairs, Arrow.
  5. Press Publish. The service screen draws the new layout at once.

Moving things

Drag a table to move it; lines appear when it is level with its neighbours. Arrow keys nudge the selection, and shift with an arrow moves it five steps. Undo and Redo step through your moves.

Delete takes a table off the map: it goes to Off the floor map, where it can still be booked, and a click puts it back. A bar moves as one piece: click its counter to pick up the whole bar, or one seat to move it alone.

With more than one floor, choose the floor above the map. Hide areas hides the outlines drawn round each area.

One device at a time

Only one device can edit the floor map at once. When another has it open, the screen says which. You can wait, or take it over: the other device loses whatever it has not published and is told it was you. Press Take the floor map over to confirm, or Leave it with them.

If the device that had it open is switched off, the floor map is let go on its own after about a minute and a half. If someone publishes while you are editing, the screen warns you that your publish would be refused: discard, and open the editor again to start from theirs.

Publishing and leaving

Nothing you move is kept until you press Publish; the button shows how many moves are waiting. Discard asks before it throws them away. Leaving the screen with moves asks you to publish or discard them.

If a tablet closed with moves on it, the next time you press Edit the floor map on that tablet the screen offers Restore it. If your editing was cut off, press Reopen with what is on screen to carry on from what you laid out.

Walls, doors and the other pieces are added and removed at once, not on Publish; moving or resizing them is published like a table.

Good to know

  • The room is never mirrored: it is drawn the same way round in every language.
  • Only a device in Office mode opens the editor; a Service tablet shows The floor map is laid out from the office. instead.
  • A bar comes out whole, from Settings › Floor › Seats at the bar. In the editor you can take one of its seats off the map, but not its counter.
