The floor map: tap a free table to seat a walk-in.

Seat them from the floor map

  1. On the service screen, with tonight showing, open the Floor map tab.
  2. Tap a free table. Take a booking opens on that table, with the time set to now, Walk-in chosen under How it came in and Seat them now switched on.
  3. Set Guests to the size of the party.
  4. Fill in their Name, Email and Phone.
  5. Press the button at the foot. It says what it will do — for two guests, Book and seat 2 — and books and seats them in one press.

What is asked, and what is not

The time and the table are not asked: they come from your tap. The guest’s name and phone are, and their email too unless Ask walk-ins for an email is unticked in Settings › General. The button stays off until everything asked is in. Requests is optional.

From any other screen, press New booking, choose Walk-in and tap the current time. Seat them now is offered only while the chosen time is the current one: switch it on to seat them as they are booked.

Booked and seated

The popup closes, and a message at the bottom of the screen says Booked and seated, with the guest’s name, the party, the time, the table and the reference. Open opens their booking, whose foot says walked in.

If the seat is refused — another party is still seated at that table, say — the booking stands but they are not seated: the message says Booked, not seated, and why. Seat them from their row once the table is free.

When nothing is free

On Pro and Enterprise, put them on the waiting list: choose Waiting list in the ⋯ menu, press + and choose A table now. They keep their place in the queue and take the next table that fits.

Before a service opens, or once it is over, the form will not book them for now: it says when the next service opens, or which was the last time on offer, so you can choose another time.

Good to know

  • On any night other than tonight, a tap on a free table opens the form on that table with no time chosen, for a booking later on.
  • A walk-in who gives an email is sent the same confirmation as any booking, if Confirmation is on in Settings › Messaging. One booked without an email is sent nothing, and the message after booking says so.
  • If they booked, seat them from their own row on the guestlist instead of taking a new booking.
