Add a service
- On a device in Office mode, open Settings › Services and press Add a service.
- Type its Name — Lunch, Dinner — and set Opens and Closes. A closing time after midnight is read as the next day.
- Under Days it runs, every day is chosen to start with; tap a day to take it off.
- Set the Default turn — the minutes a table is held for each booking — and, if larger parties sit longer, add a band under Turn times by party size.
- Set the Lead time and Book up to, then press Create it.
What each field does
- Last seating: the minutes before closing that the last table goes down. Left blank, guests can book right up to closing.
- Default turn: the minutes a table is held for a booking. Under the box, the screen says until when a start still finishes by closing.
- Turn times by party size: a party inside a band is held for that band’s minutes instead. The first band a party fits wins, so put the narrow ones first.
- Lead time: the minutes before a sitting that online booking closes. Your staff can still book inside them.
- Book up to: with Follow the restaurant ticked, the service uses the restaurant’s own number from General; untick it to give this service a number of its own.
Changing and retiring a service
The list shows each service’s days, hours, turn time and booking window. Edit opens the same form, and Save changes saves it.
Retire stops a service being offered: no new booking can be taken inside its hours, and the bookings already made stay exactly as they are. Confirm with Retire the service. A retired service cannot be brought back from this screen.
Changing a service’s hours never moves a booking. If upcoming bookings no longer fit, a warning at the top of the screen links to Schedule conflicts in General.
How long a booking lasts
A booking’s length comes from the first of these that applies: a length staff set on the booking itself; the turn of the period its start falls in, from Availability; the band its party size fits; the service’s Default turn. Where no service covers the time — a special day’s own hours, for instance — Default turn (min) from General applies.
Good to know
- Services decide when guests can book online. Your staff can still take a booking, or seat a walk-in, outside every service.
- Each service’s Lead time is the one guests meet; the Lead time (min) in General applies only where no service covers the time.
- To cap how many guests arrive in each fifteen minutes of a service, see pacing.
