What every plan gets
Insights is on every plan, in the side menu under The house: your room, the covers you served, the shape of your week, your busiest hours, where your bookings came from and your party sizes.
Pro and Enterprise add the half that tells you what to change: the covers you could not sell, your turn times, no-shows by whether the guest was reached, and how far ahead guests book and cancel. On Free and Starter, that part of the screen says what it adds, with a Compare the plans button.
Choose the dates
- Open Insights. It opens with 28 days pressed: the four weeks that end yesterday.
- Pick other dates under From and To, or press 7 days, 28 days or 90 days.
- To keep the figures, press Download the days: a spreadsheet of the covers served day by day.
Neither date goes past yesterday: today is still being served. The dates you choose stay in the page’s address, so you can send the same view to someone.
Your room and your covers
- What you have to sell: your seats, tables and areas, and the seat-hours your opening times give you each week, with The shape of the room drawn by table size. It needs no history: it reads your floor and your opening hours.
- Covers, and what became of them: Covers served, Parties, Average party and Booked the same day. Three of them also show the change from the same number of days just before.
- What became of the bookings: the bookings that sat down, were cancelled by the guest, were cancelled when you closed, were released by the system or did not turn up, and the ones nobody marked.
Your week, your hours, your guests
- The shape of the week: By weekday ranks your average trading day, busiest first, and By day is a calendar where a darker night is a busier one. Press a night to read it on its own.
- When you are busy: the hours of the day, busiest first, counted in Covers or in Parties.
- Where the bookings came from: the covers served, by where each booking came in: Your page, The button on your site, By phone, Walk-ins or Typed in by staff.
- Party sizes against your tables: for each party size, how many booked and how many sat, beside the tables that fit them, and Party size you sell most.
What Pro adds
- Covers you did not sell: the part of the covers asked for that you had to turn away. Every reason they were turned away opens the turned-away report on the same dates.
- Sizes you turned away: for each party size, the parties no table could take, apart from those your own pacing refused while a table was free, with Open the pacing grid.
- Turn time: what you set against what happened: for each band of party sizes, how long tables really took against the time you set. Only tables someone marked finished are measured.
- No-shows, by whether you actually reached the guest: no-shows split by whether the guest reconfirmed, was reminded, booked too late to be reminded, or was never reached.
- When they book, and when they cancel: how far ahead your guests book, and how much notice a cancellation gives you.
How the numbers are counted
How this is counted, at the foot of the screen, defines every figure. The rules that matter most:
- A booking belongs to the night of its sitting, not the day it was made, and a night runs to your restaurant’s own cut-over time.
- A party of four is four covers, one party and one booking. The figures at the top count covers, and what became of the bookings counts bookings, so the two do not add up to each other.
- A booking nobody marks on the service screen stays among the Never marked either way, so mark arrivals, no-shows and finished tables as they happen (see the booking statuses).
- With too few bookings behind it, a percentage is not shown at all: you see the counts instead.
- There is no money here: ResOlio takes no payments and stores no prices, so it counts covers, not revenue.
Good to know
- A night you closed is not a quiet night: the averages leave it out, and the calendar shows it as closed.
- Covers go back to your first booking; the refusals behind the Pro figures are kept for ninety days.
- Each restaurant has its own insights. On Enterprise, insights across all your restaurants at once are coming.
- On a night your team is marking guests in, a party still not in after the no-show wait is marked a no-show automatically: it is counted apart from the no-shows a person marked and never in the rate, and a table finished automatically is never in the turn times.
