Connect your domain
- In Your page, open the Domain tab.
- Under Your domain, type the address, such as book.yourrestaurant.com, and press Connect.
- After Adding your domain, the screen lists the records to add, each with its Type, Name and Value, and a copy button beside them.
- At the company where you bought your domain, open its DNS settings and add each record exactly as written.
- Wait. The screen checks by itself, and changes to Live at your domain once everything is right.
Which address to use
A new name under your website's address, such as book.yourrestaurant.com, is the easiest: your website stays exactly as it is, and your booking page answers at the new name. Each restaurant can have one address.
The records
Each record carries a line saying what it is for:
- Sends visitors to your booking page.
- Proves the domain is yours.
Most companies ask for the short name; for those that want the full one, it is printed under it. If yours offers an ALIAS or ANAME record instead, the screen says where to point it.
The checks
The screen checks by itself, every few minutes at first, then every hour, for three days, and says when it last checked. Once your records are in, Check now checks straight away.
And as the screen says: If it is not live three days after you connected it, we let the address go, and you can connect it again.
Once live, your page answers at your domain, and every address the office gives you to copy uses it, your button's code included. The padlock can take a few minutes to appear the first time.
Remove it
Under Remove this domain, press Remove, then Remove it. Your page stops answering at that address straight away and goes back to its usual one. Delete the records at your domain company too, so nobody else can use them.
Good to know
- Your page keeps its usual address the whole time: guests who have the old link still reach it.
- On a plan without your own domain, the domain stops answering, and the tab keeps Remove this domain so you can let the name go.
- A live domain is checked again once a day. If it stops pointing at your page, the office goes back to giving out your usual address until it does again.
- If the tab says Not switched on yet, you cannot connect a domain for now; your page keeps working at its usual address.
