Find your way around the office

The side menu, the bar and the search: where each screen of the office is, and what belongs to one device.

The office: the side menu, the bar on top, and the service screen.

Three parts

The office has three parts: the side menu, which lists the screens; the bar across the top; and the screen you are on, which takes the rest. In Arabic, the side menu stands on the right.

The bar

  • Its middle belongs to the screen you are on. On Service, that is the night’s date, the tabs Guestlist, Floor map and Calendar, and a search for that night.
  • At its end, the search button covers the whole office (except on Service, which has its own search), and the bell turns on a sound for each new booking, on this device.
  • When the connection drops, Reconnecting shows on the bar, and a line under it says the screen is the room as it was a moment ago; some buttons wait until it is back.
  • That line under the bar also tells you when your page is paused, or what the next step of setting up is. Its arrow opens the details.
  • On a touch screen, the button at the start of the bar opens the side menu.

Choices for this device

Some choices belong to the device in your hand, not to the restaurant. You find them in the restaurant menu at the foot of the side menu, and in the search:

  • Appearance: Light, Dark or System, which follows the device’s own setting.
  • Clock: 24-hour or 12-hour times on this device. The restaurant’s own choice, which its guests’ emails follow, is in Settings › General.
  • Alerts on this device, and the bell’s sound, are set on each device too.

Language

The office speaks the language of its address: English, French, or Arabic, which reads right to left. Dates and times follow it.

To change it, choose the language with the menu on the sign-in screen, or on the ResOlio website before you press Sign in; a device that is already signed in goes straight to the office. The languages your guests see are a separate choice: see languages.

On a service tablet

A Service tablet is made for the night. It has no Settings row, the search finds no settings, the restaurant menu has no Devices signed in, and saving a change on Your page is refused: make it from an Office device.

Its side menu starts folded to icons: on a touch screen, the button at the start of the bar shows their names.

Good to know

  • The sound of a new booking is off until you press the bell, on each device.
  • A number alone in the search finds bookings and tables, never a setting or a device choice: type a word for those.
  • When the connection comes back, the office catches up on its own.
