Reading the grid

Each row is a table, and the tables are grouped by room; each column is a start time, across the whole service, the hours already served included. A line marks the time now. Above the grid, a strip shows the days around the one you are on, marked Tonight, Closed or Too far: tap one to open it.

  • A green square is open, and says which party sizes the table can take at that time.
  • A bar is a booking, with the guest’s name and the party size. An amber ring means the party is late; hatching after a bar means they are still at the table past their time.
  • Grey slashes: the table cannot take anyone at that time.
  • Dark hatching: the restaurant is closed then. Plain grey: a time already gone.
  • A cross: the table is out of service.

Tap a room’s name to fold its tables into one line, which says how many are free at each time.

Take a booking from an open square

Tap a green square. Take a booking opens on that table at that time, with a party size the table takes already chosen: change it, add the guest, and book. See taking a booking.

Move a booking

  1. Press a booking’s bar and drag it. On a tablet, hold it for a moment first. Where the bar is wide enough, its Move button does the same in two taps.
  2. The squares that can take the party light up. Let go on one, or tap one: the booking moves to that table and that time together.
  3. A message confirms the move and offers Undo. To give up before choosing a square, press Cancel on the line over the grid.

Only a booking still to come can be moved: not a party that has arrived or is seated, and not one whose table is locked. If pacing is full at the new time, tap the same square again to move them anyway.

Grey squares, and booking anyway

Tap a grey square to see why it cannot take anyone: the table is too small or too large, the next booking is too close, the table is kept free for a while after each sitting, pacing is full, or that part of the room is not open then.

When the restaurant can still seat it, the window offers Book … at … anyway. It is for that table, at that time, and for this one booking only. The line under the button says what it does, such as a shorter sitting that ends before the next party, or skipping the free time kept after the last one. Nothing changes for anyone else.

A table’s number of seats is never overridden, nor pacing the restaurant has locked. A time already begun tonight can be booked the same way, to record a party who sat down earlier.

Drop a waiting party

On Pro and Enterprise, the waiting list runs under the calendar. Drag a party onto a lit square. A party at the door, dropped on the square of the time now, is seated at once. On any other square, Take a booking opens filled in with who they are, and they leave the list once booked. See the waiting list.

Out of service, and two bookings on one table

A square with a cross is a table taken out of service. Tap it to open it; on an Office tablet you can put the table back in service from there. See taking a table out of service.

If two bookings ever share a table at the same time, their square is ringed in amber. Tap it: Two bookings on one table lists them, and you open one to give it another table or time.

On the Calendar tab, press ⋯, then Print the calendar, for the grid on paper. Print gives the night as a list instead, from any tab.

Good to know

  • The search on the bar dims every booking that does not match, so the one you are looking for stands out.
  • A table with not online beside its name is not offered on the website for at least part of the night. You can still book it here.
