Give the room longer

1. On the service screen, press ⋯ at the end of the bar and choose Give the room longer.
2. Under How much longer, tap a number of minutes, or type one. Anything from 1 to 180 minutes.
3. Under Which part of the room, keep The whole room or choose one part of the room.
4. Press See what it would do. Nothing changes yet: the report says how many parties can take the time, and lists those that cannot.
5. Press the button that gives them the time; it says how many tables and how many minutes. Then press Done.

Who is given more time

Every party at the door or at a table right now, on the night on screen. Bookings that have not arrived are not touched, and nobody is emailed: only the end of each sitting moves.

The check is not optional: until you have seen the report, the button that gives the time stays off. Change the minutes or the part of the room, and the report is cleared until you check again.

Who could not be given more time, and why

The report lists them by booking reference, each with its reason:

• the next party has that table: the next booking on that table starts before the extra time — and the gap kept between sittings — would end. Their sitting keeps the end it had; nothing overlaps.
• someone is holding that table: a booking for that table is being made at this moment. Such a hold ends by itself within minutes, so check again shortly.
• would run past 8 hours, the longest a booking may last: the limit is the same for every restaurant, whatever its turn times; the Longest turn (min) in Settings › General does not stop time given here.

Once the time is given, the report says how many tables were given it; Left where they were lists the others, and the list of those that moved shows each new end time.
