The floor map

Your room as you drew it, each table coloured by what it is doing: tap a table to take a booking on it or to open the party seated there.

The floor map: every table in its place, in the colour of what it is doing.

What the colours mean

The room is drawn as you laid it out in the floor map editor, the same way round in every language. Each table shows its number and a colour:

  • Green: free, with its number of seats under the number.
  • Amber with a dashed edge: free now and booked later. It shows when the next party is due.
  • Red: a party is on it, or due on it now. It shows how many they are.
  • Deeper red with an exclamation mark: the party has stayed past the end of their booking.
  • Grey with a cross: out of service.

A small clock means the party whose table it is has not arrived and is late. A dot in a table’s corner means it has a note for the team. Tables joined for one party are ringed together, and the party’s size is written once.

Floors, size and time

If your restaurant has more than one floor, the strip above the room has a button for each, and More rooms holds the rest. On a small screen a large floor may be shown one room at a time, and Show the whole floor brings it back whole.

− and + show the room smaller or larger, and Fit fits it to the screen. Each tablet keeps its floor and its size.

The time button on the strip reads Now. Tap it and move the slider under See the room at to see the room at another time of the night, such as who will be where at nine. Back to now returns to the present.

Tap a table

  • A free table, or one free until later: Take a booking opens on that table. See taking a booking and walk-ins.
  • A table with a party on it: their booking opens.
  • A table out of service: why, until when, and the way to put it back.
  • A table on a night that is over: who sat there, and when.

On a closed day the tables are dimmed, and a tap only says that nothing can be booked.

The guest list beside the room

Beside the room, a list headed Guests gives the night’s parties by name, under Arrived, Upcoming and Seated, each with its time, its size and its table. The box Find a guest at its top finds a name, a table number or a booking reference.

  1. Tap a name. Their table is ringed, the tables that can take them light up, and the rest dim.
  2. Tap a lit table, or drag the name onto it. The party moves there, and a message offers Undo in case it was the wrong one.
  3. To see their whole booking instead, press Open on the name.

A party at the door or already seated, one whose table is locked, or one whose booking started more than four hours ago is only shown: their table is ringed and stays theirs. On a narrow screen the list opens over the room from the Guests button, and closes once you pick a name.

The strip and the waiting list

The strip above the room also counts the parties without a table: tap it, then a name, then a table. It counts the tables not on the plan too: they take bookings all the same, and an Office tablet can place them in Settings › Floor.

On Pro and Enterprise, the waiting list runs along the bottom of the room. Drag a party onto a table to seat them, or, if they are waiting for a later time, to book it for them: see the waiting list.

Good to know

  • The search on the bar dims every table that does not match. It never hides one, so a taken table never looks free.
  • Moving a party on the floor map keeps their time. To change the time as well, drag their booking on the calendar.
  • If pacing is full when you move or seat a party here, the strip says so, and the same tap again does it anyway.
