Put the button on your website
- In Your page, open the Button tab.
- Under Your button, press Copy. You copy two lines: a link to your page, and the script that makes it open your booking form over your website.
- In your website's editor, paste both lines where the button should go. Use an embed or custom HTML block, not the text editor.
- Publish your website, open it and press the button: your booking form opens over the page.
It is a link first
The first line is an ordinary link to your page. The script in the second line makes it open the booking form in a window over your website instead.
If the script is blocked, missing or slow, the button still works as that link: guests land on your page and book there, so no booking is lost.
Your page's own address is on the same screen, under Your page, with Copy and Open it. Use it in a bio, on a menu, in a Google listing or in an email.
Its words, colours and language
The words between the tags in the first line are the button's label. The code comes with Book a table, in English: change them to your own words, in your own language.
There is no colour setting: the button is a link on your own website, so it takes your website's style, and your web developer can style it like any other link. The booking form inside the window wears your page's look.
The window opens in the language of your website, or of the visitor's browser, when your restaurant offers that language; otherwise in your restaurant's main language.
Use a button you already have
To make your own button open the booking form, your web developer copies the two attributes that begin with data-bw- from the first line onto it, and keeps the script line once on the page. Any number of buttons can share that one script. Keep each one a link to your page, so it still works without the script.
For your web developer, at the bottom of the screen, has the details for them.
Which websites it opens on
Once its first 14 days are over, your button opens only on the websites you allow. Until then it opens on any website, and the screen lists each one it was seen on under Where your button was seen: allow yours, and press Remove for any other.
You can also add your website's address yourself in Settings › General, under Your booking button on other websites. Do this first if you put the button up after those days. On a website that is not allowed, the window shows a short message and a link to your page instead of the form.
Check that it works
Under Try it here, press Load the button, then press the button that appears: it is the real one, and nothing is booked unless you complete the form.
Check it on your own site, inside For your web developer, is a check your web developer can run in the browser on your website. And If something is wrong lists the usual causes when something does not work.
Good to know
- The button takes no bookings until your plan is active: the screen says so at the top, and the window tells guests the restaurant is not taking bookings.
- Each restaurant has its own button code. If you run several, choose the restaurant first, then copy.
- Once your own domain is live, the link in the code uses it. A button already on your website keeps working as it is.
